Dealing with Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids happen when the veins of the anus or the rectum become inflamed. The causes of this condition are many and varied, and the condition can be exacerbated by many common activities. Common symptoms include pain when defecating, the presence of blood either on the feces or in the toilet, or lumps inside or within close proximity to the anus. It is possible for hemorrhoids to cure themselves without any effort on the part of the sick person, and the sick person might not even notice they have hemorrhoids. This is not true in the case when external hemorrhoids have thrombosed themselves. These hemorrhoids cause too much pain to be ignored. Although it is tempting to scrub hemorrhoids, perhaps in the belief that keeping them clean will make them go away faster, such activity often exacerbates the problem. High blood pressure, pushing too hard when attempting to defecate, being overweight, and even slouching can put too much pressure on the veins of the rectum, and this pressure increases the likelihood of hemorrhoids. Smoking tobacco cigarettes and drinking alcoholic or caffeinated beverages make hemorrhoids worse. Therefore, to avoid hemorrhoids, you should keep your blood pressure low, stand up strait, lose weight, and not try too hard when sitting on the toilet.
